We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use CoverCraft ("the App").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Images: Photos and files you import into the App for compression, conversion, upscaling, or watermarking. All image processing is performed entirely on your device. Your images are never uploaded to our servers.
• Watermark Logo: If you choose to use a custom logo as a watermark, that image is saved locally in your device's Application Support directory. It is never transmitted externally.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Analytics Data: We use Firebase Analytics to collect usage statistics, including app interactions, feature usage, and session data. This helps us understand how the App is used and improve the user experience.
• Crash Reports: We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash logs and diagnostic data to improve App stability. Crash reports may include device information and the state of the App at the time of the crash.
• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, language and region settings.
• Advertising Identifiers: For free-tier users, we use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect and use your advertising identifier (IDFA) in accordance with your device's privacy settings and App Tracking Transparency preferences.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the App's functionality (image compression, conversion, upscaling, and watermarking)
• Improve and optimize the App based on usage patterns
• Diagnose technical issues and fix bugs via crash reports
• Display relevant advertisements to free-tier users
• Process subscription purchases through Apple
• Enforce daily operation limits for free-tier users
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Storage and Processing

3.1 On-Device Processing

All image processing — including compression, format conversion, upscaling, and watermark compositing — is performed entirely on your device. Your photos and files are never uploaded to our servers or transmitted to any external service for processing.

3.2 Local Storage

Processed images are saved to temporary files on your device until you export or share them. App preferences (such as your last used settings and operation counts) are stored locally in UserDefaults. A custom watermark logo, if set, is stored in your device's Application Support directory.

3.3 No Cloud Sync

CoverCraft does not offer cloud synchronization. No image data is stored on remote servers by us.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

5. Advertising and App Tracking Transparency

For free-tier users, ads are served through Google AdMob. On iOS 14.5 and later, the App follows Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. We will request your permission before accessing your device's advertising identifier for personalized advertising. You may change your preference at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

If you decline tracking, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your activity across other apps and websites.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: With the third-party services listed above that help us operate the App.
• Legal Requirements: When required by applicable law or to protect our legal rights.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

7. Data Retention

Analytics and crash report data is retained by Firebase in accordance with Google's data retention policies. Advertising data is managed by AdMob and subject to Google's retention practices. All image data and app preferences stored locally on your device are retained until you delete the App.

8. Your Rights

8.1 All Users

You have the right to:

• Delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the App
• Opt out of personalized advertising via your device's ATT settings
• Opt out of Firebase Analytics data collection by contacting us

8.2 European Economic Area (EEA) Residents – GDPR Rights

If you are located in the EEA, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data held by us or our service providers.
• Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Restriction: Request restriction of processing.
• Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Complaint: Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Our legal basis for processing is: (a) legitimate interests (to improve app stability and performance via analytics and crash reports), and (b) your consent (for personalized advertising via ATT).

8.3 California Residents – CCPA Rights

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• Know: Request disclosure of personal information collected, used, and shared.
• Delete: Request deletion of your personal information.
• Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
• Do Not Sell: We do not sell personal information.

9. Data Security

All image processing occurs on-device and no image data is transmitted externally. Analytics and crash report data transmitted to Firebase is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL. We implement appropriate technical measures to protect any data we do process, though no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure.

10. International Data Transfers

Analytics and crash data collected through Firebase and AdMob may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates. Google ensures appropriate safeguards for such transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

11. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
